Paul is a graduate of West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham England. The Impressionistic style of his photography stems from various techniques developed over 25 years. The photo collages explore visual relationships and interactions of people using the urban environment as a backdrop with architectural elements that create a graphic vehicle to explore design. At a distance, each work evolves into a complex geometric structure that draws the viewer to the single block that the work has grown from. This unique visual duality is the byproduct of the basic repetition process. With this “less is more” approach, the base photograph is shot repeatedly from a fixed focal point on a tripod to create a large volume of images with a consistency to work from.
Paul has won many awards for his photography, including “Best in Show” at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk art show and First Place photography at the Port Orange Arts Festival. His work hangs in many collections throughout the United States and has been shown in many juried, one man, and group shows, including the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk; the Virginia Beach Art Center; the Art League of the Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, VA; and the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, FL.
Paul was born in England and currently lives in Cocoa Beach, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Original constructions as well as signed, numbered photo collages are available.
