Since early childhood, Patrick Henry enjoyed drawing and related creative activities. During high school, he adopted oil painting as his favorite medium of expression and the surrounding seascapes and landscapes of the eastern shore of Maryland became a source of inspiration for his earliest paintings. While pursuing an art education degree at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Patrick briefly departed from scenic painting and his work became more people-oriented with experimentation and social comment as his main focus. More recently, his distinctive painting style and diverse subject matter has attracted a growing number of collectors and admirers. Some compare his serene paintings to Monet’s work. According to Patrick, “I never really sell a painting, the painting sells itself. Something has communicated so strongly with that person that they want to always be able to identify with it. That is very gratifying.”

In addition to landscapes and seascapes, Patrick paints images of a simpler time that may be fondly recalled by many people. He also painted a series of images commemorating the history of thoroughbred horse racing in the 1930’s and 1040’s. Patrick’s art has achieved many awards, and he recently was honored with an exhibit at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History & Culture in Baltimore, MD. His art is featured in Atlantic General Hospital and other health care settings, and in murals and paintings throughout Ruth’s Chris Steak House, in Ocean City, Maryland.
Patrick was born in 1952 on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and has lived there most of his life. Originals as well as signed, numbered giclee prints on paper or canvas are available.
